File Compression ( Zip)
Zip Files are "archives" used for distributing and storing
files. Zip files contain one or more files. Usually the files "archived"
in a Zip are compressed to save space. Zip files make it easier to group
files and make transporting and copying these files faster. Both Windows and Macintosh operating systems have built-in Zip creation functionality. Some
ISP's provide a compression feature in their email service. The Zip archive format should be used whenever possible to facilitate emailing and uploading files.
How Do I Compress a (Zip) File?
Many compression software packages have a "Drop Menu" option,
which allows you to drop the files onto the compression software icon.
This will launch the software and begin the compression in an automated
process. If this is not an option for you, use these guidelines to Zip
your files:
1. Open the compression software.
2. Select create an archive or choose new.
3. Select the name for the archive and location.
4. Select files to be compressed.
